Collecting Pollen from Flower

Working with plants is Lydia's passion and she loves sharing this with others. Horticulturally-trained by the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh she holds RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Horticulture (with Commendation). Lydia gardens organically without the use of pesticides and insecticides and encourages natural predators and areas of refuge for wildlife. She loves growing plants from seed and has a particular interest in ornamental grasses, roses, peonies and Mediterranean plants.

Lydia believes that it is imperative to preserve and enhance garden biodiversity at all times, resulting in a balance of pests and predators. If you want to enjoy birds, toads and butterflies in your garden, then these creatures need a suitable and adequate food supply to flourish.

She is a firm believer in working with, rather than against, nature. This means embracing the wildlife in your garden (excluding deer and rabbits in this because they can be very destructive). In a practical sense she strongly encourages gardeners to work without pesticides and insecticides and to improve their soil and plant health, rather than trying to combat problems at a later stage.

Lydia has spent many years gardening and acquired a great deal of experience and knowledge which makes her perfectly placed to help you to achieve the garden of your dreams.
